Returning to the Lost Beach and Waterfall Swimming

We took a little trip to the North Shore today up to Papa'iloa Beach, one of the many locations where Lost is filmed. Last year we were able to go and see the beach camp set, however this time only the kitchen area was set up. But, when we walked a bit further down the beach, we were able to see Eko's Church, so I guess it will be making an appearance again in Season 6.

After the Lost beach and getting my pic taken at Eko's Church, we drove a couple of miles further to the Waimea Audubon Center (also like last year). It's basically a huge botanical garden with a paved walk that ends with a waterfall. The neat thing about this waterfall is, not only can you swim in it, but there's a lifeguard and they provide free lifejackets for the little ones (and Jon). This is great, because the water is about 30 feet deep (and Jon sinks like a rock, despite the ability to swim well). All three of us were able to go in together for a swim, Evan had the biggest smile on his face he was so happy and excited. He even wanted to swim "by himself" since he had the benefit of the lifejacket, and Jon was able to help him up to sit beneath the falls. I think this was one of the highlights of this trip for Evan.

Once we were done there, we headed out to Haleiwa to the Hono's Shrimp Truck, our fave place to eat on the entire island. As always, I got my butter spicy shrimp. Jon got the garlic spicy, forgetting quite how hot "spicy" is, so apparently I have to remember to warn him next time before he orders. On the way out of Haleiwa we stopped for our tradition of shave ice for dessert, however Matsumoto's was extremely busy, so we stopped next door at Aoki's, which was equally delicious. I think I got something called "rainbow delight" with vanilla ice cream on the bottom. Mmm...Evan was a bit mad that he didn't get his own, but these things are huge!
